Yu Yu Myint Than is a personal documentary photographer from Myanmar, who was based in Yangon till June 2021. Starting out as a press photographer, she realized that short-term assignments are not for her and decided to work on personal documentary stories.

She co-founded a woman photographer collective and collaborated with her collective in several project before the collective decided to take hiatus status in August 2021 because of the political situation in Myanmar.

She has won several international scholarships and her work has been exhibited locally and internationally such at Obscura Festival of Photography, Penang, and Photoville, New York. Yu Yu was Magnum Foundation’s fellow for Photography and Social Justice Program 2017. She is also interested into photobooks as an art objects and another layer of storytelling . Her hand-made photobook “Sorry, Not Sorry” was chosen to be exhibited internationally.

She is currently working on visual-practice based research while working on other photographic project and book projects.
